Alumni Event Kickoff
Ask our dancers how they would describe the Dance and Music Academy and one answer always stands out: family. For the past 12 years, DMA has built a community of artists that come for dance training, yet stay for the bonding relationships they form. We work hard to build our dancers not only as solid technicians, but also help them grow as role models, social changers, and all around good people. For many of our dancers, whether still in grade school or out of college, DMA serves as a type of second-home. In the end, all the long hours of training and rehearsing bring everyone together. Working towards the same goal of creating art is powerful. The lessons learned at any dance studio stick with dancers forever, and here at DMA, so do the relationships formed. We love each and every one of our alumni, and we are happy to finally create a way to bring everyone back together to the DMA family.
Our alumni are all over the country; whether they've just graduated undergrad with a dancing major, taking university courses now, traveling, or working, we want to bring them all back together to see how far we've all come. We have been working to create an alumni group to reconnect members of the DMA community. Everyone included in the group has been a part of the DMA family, and we want to recognize that each and every dancer has made an impact at DMA.
Our college intern and DMA alum, Allison Berg, is working to create a connected alumni group. "We are all at different places in our lives right now, but we've all shared DMA as a common part of life". Allison believes bringing some of our girls back together will not only be fun for them, but mutually beneficial for our highschool dancers. We are planning events to bring our alumni back together, and to connect alumni with current high schoolers.
We invite all Dance and Music Academy alumni to our kickoff event of reconnecting! Join us July 27th from 9-11 PM at Pinstripes in Northbrook to celebrate and reminisce the many years we shared together. Appetizers and bowling will be paid for, however a $4 shoe rental and drinks will need to be purchased separately. As this is the first event we hold for the alumni group, we hope to see some familiar faces and get the chance to hear how every is doing. Most importantly, we are excited to come back together to the community many of us called family. We love our alumni, and cannot wait to reconnect at our DMA alumni group events!
